Student Honors
The faculty of UC Clermont College are pleased to be able to recognize students that demonstrate outstanding academic qualities. Every spring, an Honors Ceremony is held to recognize students who have been selected by UC Clermont College faculty to receive honors.
Overall Awards
Outstanding Sophomore Awards: Awarded to students demonstrating outstanding achievement for holding the highest GPA in graduating class majoring in a specific academic program.
Departmental Awards
Program Honors: Awarded to students demonstrating outstanding achievement while majoring in a specific academic program. Eligibility includes a minimum completion of 30 semester credit hours and a GPA of 3.5 and have demonstrated other outstanding academic qualities.
Disciplinary (Sophomore) Honors: Awarded to students demonstrating outstanding achievement in discipline with no corresponding program. Eligibility includes a minimum completion of 30 semester credit hours with a minimum of 4 semester credit hours completed in the discipline and a GPA of 3.5 and have demonstrated other outstanding academic qualities.
Freshman Honors: Awarded to Non-matriculated students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a specific academic discipline. Eligibility includes a minimum completion of 4 semester credit hours in courses designed for majors and a GPA of 3.5 and have demonstrated other outstanding academic qualities.
Honor Cords
Graduating students qualifying for Honors Cords will receive their cords at the Honors Recognition ceremony. Designation of Latin Honors are based on a student's university grade point average.
- Summa Cum Laude "with highest honor" requires a GPA of 3.9 — 4.0
- Magna Cum Laude "with great honor" requires a GPA of 3.75 — 3.89
- Cum Laude "with honor" requires a GPA of 3.6 — 3.74
Honors Awards
Faculty may nominate students for honors in a specific program or discipline within each academic department. All students receiving honors have a minimum gpa of 3.5, have completed at least 30 credit hours and demonstrated other outstanding academic qualities.
