Future Students
Choosing a major and planning for college can feel like a big decision. Career Services can help prospective students explore their interests, learn more about career options, and better understand how academic programs can connect to future goals. Starting this process early can help you feel more confident when selecting a major, registering for classes and beginning your college journey.
Explore Your Options Before You Begin
One resource we recommend is O*NET, a career exploration tool that provides information about hundreds of occupations, including common job responsibilities, skills, education and training requirements, work environments and employment outlook. Exploring careers through O*NET can help you identify options you may not have considered and better understand the connection between your interests, possible careers, and the education needed to get there.
After exploring O*NET, prospective students can schedule a career coaching appointment with Career Services. During this conversation, a career coach can help you talk through what you discovered, explore possible career and major options, and identify questions to consider as you prepare to register for classes. The goal is not to have your entire career figured out before college begins. It is to help you make thoughtful, informed decisions and start your academic journey with a clearer sense of direction.
Career exploration can also help you use your time in college more intentionally. By understanding possible career pathways early, you can begin thinking about the classes, experiences, internships, skills and connections that may support your goals throughout your time at UC Clermont.
