Essential Program-Related Functions

Admission to the technical core

Admission to the second-year technical core requires separate application at the end of your first semester. Admission to the physical therapist assisting major does not guarantee acceptance into the technical core curriculum.

Once admitted to the technical core, you may also be required to submit a physical examination, TB test, and updated immunizations.  Some clinical sites may also require that you have, and maintain, CPR and first aid certifications.

Please be aware

If you have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, especially if it involves abuse of alcohol or controlled substances, you may be disqualified from licensure. If this applies to you, please discuss your personal situation with the state licensure board that you intend to apply to before beginning this course of study. Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana all require background checks as part of their standard licensing application process.

Program accreditation

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program was first accredited through the University of Cincinnati College of Allied Health in 1987. Transfer of sponsorship to Clermont College was approved in November 2009, maintaining its full accreditation status. The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education has re-accredited this program until December 31, 2016.
