About Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a program offered by the University of Cincinnati Clermont College and is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  Our goal is to provide enrichment, information and direction to high school students who attend our target schools, so they can become successfully enrolled in college after high school graduation.

The Upward Bound Program was first created in 1965 through Federal Congressional Legislation, funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.  Upward Bound is one of the two oldest educational programs funded by the Federal Government; it is the first of seven educational programs now grouped under the name “TRIO Programs”.  Upward Bound Programs exist on college campuses across the United States, with more than 750 programs in operation.

Upward Bound at UC Clermont, part of Ohio TRIO has served students in Clermont and Brown Counties, since 1995. 70% of our graduates since 1996 whom we are able to contact (43 of 61) are in college or have graduated.
