The first page is informational and provides highlights of items available.
The left-hand, vertical menu bar has a link to the “DMC Databases”. This is where the information is stored.
DMC Databases The DMC currently contains nine databases, each with a variety of growing content from videos, to images, to sound. The list of databases includes:
Art & Architecture - images from licensed art collections
Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics, Digital Animal Sounds - audio clips of animal sounds
Digital Video Collection - containing over 1500 different educational videos
Foreign Language Digital Videos - video clips of native speakers in non-English
Historic & Archival Digital Media - pictures and archives from Ohio history
LANDSAT 7 Satellite Images - satellite images of Ohio
Sanborn Digital Maps - street plans of Ohio communities
Science Digital Media - images and video for the sciences
Social Sciences Digital Media - images for the social sciences
Because it started small, the search functionalities for the different database may not be as robust as other systems, but OhioLINK continues to improve its interfaces just as it adds to its content.
Each database has an information page (the ‘read more…’ link) describing the content and formats contained in the database.
The most widely used database is the Digital Video Collection. To access the Digital Video Collection, either
click the ‘OhioLINK access only’ link from the database listing page,
The Digital Video Collection page has subject browsing on the right half of the page and a quick search and information about the collection on the left part of the page.
Because each item is only placed in one subject area at this time, you may not immediately find items of interest. For example, there is a ‘Mental Health’ subject area and a ‘Psychology & Mental Health’ subject area. A video will be in one or the other category, but not both.
