The call number system used by the University of Cincinnati is the Library of Congress Classification. This is different than the system used by most high schools and public libraries also known as the Dewey Decimal Classification system. The Library of Congress system uses a combination of letters and numbers whereas the Dewey Decimal system uses primarily numbers.
The following is an abbreviated list of the general Library of Congress classifications and the subjects they represent, in alphabetical order by the first subject. Be aware that some items may cross subjects and be located where you would not expect. Once you have defined a specific topic, a catalogue search may produce items not found by general browsing.
