Get Research Assistance?

If you are not sure where to start, or need ideas for a different resource, try the online subject guides. Assistance during hours when the library is closed is available from the 'Chat with a Librarian' service, or the 'KnowItNow' service (available when chat with a librarian is not). You are always welcome to contact the librarian via phone (513-732-5233) or Rosemary Young: rosemary.young@uc.edu). The OhioLINK guide for Faculty and Researchers may also provide some starting points.

Place materials on reserve
Complete a reserve form (available at the circulation desk or information online). Due to the large number of faculty placing reserves, please provide as much notice as possible before the items are needed by the students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and assistance. Questions regarding reserves may be directed to Nancy Hunter at 732-5233 or by email at nancy.hunter@uc.edu.

Schedule library instruction for my classes
Faculty can schedule a time for a library orientation for their classes. This orientation can be focused on specific resources. Contact Rosemary Young at 732-5232 or by email rosemary.young@uc.edu with further questions. Or use the online information to schedule Library orientations for your classes.

Schedule library instruction for myself
If you would like an individualized library orientation, contact or Rosemary Young at 732-5233 or by email rosemary.young@uc.edu to schedule a time. Individualized orientations are available in your office or the library, your choice.

Request a book from another UC library
You may request available UC materials be sent to the Clermont College Library for pick up. Complete the request online through the "Request" option in the catalog or at the library's circulation desk. Please note: requests will be canceled when the item requested is available in the library selected for pick up. If your email information is correct in your library record (see 'view my library record'), you will receive an email when the item(s) arrives, or you can watch the progress of the item by viewing your library record (see 'view my library record'). Items generally arrive within 5 business days.

Request a book from an OhioLINK library
When desired materials are not available from any University of Cincinnati Libraries' location, you may request them from another OhioLINK library. Search for materials in the OhioLINK Central Catalog and request items using the "Request This Item" link in the item record and follow the directions for specifying a pick-up location. Materials from OhioLINK libraries generally arrive in 5 business days. View Your Library Record to check the status of your request and to determine if the requested item(s) has arrived.

Request articles from print journals at Langsam
If an article is not available online, but Langsam library has the journal in print, please contact Nancy Hunter by phone (513) 732-5233 or by email nancy.hunter@uc.edu to see if we can get a copy for you.

Request articles or other items not available from the above sources
Use Interlibrary loan (ILL) for items that University of Cincinnati Libraries do not own or for items that are unavailable at UC and OhioLINK.

View my library record
The view your library record option allows you to see item due dates, renew items, check on the status of holds, check OhioLINK and UC Libraries borrowing requests, and to verify that your email is correct.

Renew my books
You may renew your books via one of three different methods:

  1. Online - Use the View Your Library Record option to quickly renew books. Remember that UC and OhioLINK books may be renewed three times. Also, OhioLINK is very strict about their fines and the library staff are obliged by the OhioLINK contract not to waive OhioLINK fines.
  2. By phone - The staff at the Clermont College Library will be happy to renew your books when you call at (513)732-5233. The same renewal policies apply as above.
  3. In person - You are welcome to stop by the library and have your books renewed. It is not necessary to have the items with you for a renewal.
