Distance Learning is a term often used to describe the educational process that does not occur on the campus. For example, distance learning students may be students who are:
taking a course at a remote location;
taking a course provided primarily online; and
those students who travel long distances (75-100 miles or more) to take a course.
Thanks to the advance of technology, a large portion of library services and resources are available across the Internet.
This page is intended to provide distance learners with a guide to accessing those services.
Who can use these services? These services are available to any Clermont College student, faculty, or staff.
What library resources are available to me from off-campus? Library resources available to distance learners include:
Over 65,000 full text journals (for help using the full text journals, see the Find Full Text Journals how-to guide)
Over 390,000 electronic books (for help finding electronic books, see the Find Electronic Books how-to guide)
Over 1,900 educational videos through the OhioLINK Digital Media Center and
Via the 'Chat with a Librarian' service, or the 'KnowItNow' service (available when chat with a librarian is not) The combination of these services is available 24/7
If you are planning ahead and/or have a more complicated research question, email is also an option. However, be aware that because of meetings, off-campus obligations, etc. response time is not guaranteed and may be a few days.
How do I connect to the electronic library resources from off-campus? Electronic library resources may be connected to from an off-campus computer by using one of three different methods. Information about off-campus access, why you need to use these methods, and the "how to connect" methods are available on the Off-Campus access page.
