Real Estate Course Descriptions


Real Estate Principles and Practices 
A survey of real estate marketing, economics and general administrative principles and practices in the State of Ohio. Topics include license law, contracts and legal instruments, agency relationships, ethics, financing and mortgages, appraisal and valuation, and current industry trends. Required for Ohio Real Estate examinations.


Real Estate Law
A survey of real estate law, principles and practices in the State of Ohio. Topics include types of estates in land, co-ownership, mortgages, deeds, contracts, fair housing, Ohio license law and landlord-tenant law. Required for Ohio Real Estate examinations.

Real Estate Finance
A survey of the principles and practice of real estate finance including mortgage markets, types of financing, government activities and laws, real estate cycles, processing, closing, defaults, qualifying buyers, sources of funds, and real estate finance instruments, and seller financing.  Required for Ohio Real Estate examinations.

Real Estate Appraisal
An in-depth exploration of essential theories and methodologies used in real estate appraisal and valuation. Topics include classical approaches to determining value and value influences, property inspection and analysis, reconciliation of values, reporting appraisal opinions and current trends affecting real estate appraisal in the State of Ohio. Required for Ohio Real Estate examinations.
